Stantsia R-29RMU1 missile
In 1996-2001 the R&D was performed for creation of a middle-power warhead of increased safety on the basis of the R-39UTTKh missile warhead. As a result, the R-29RMU1 has a warhead of increased explosion safety and improved accuracy, signaling and velocity characteristics corresponding to those of the best foreign analogs. The state flight tests were completed in July 2001 and included three launches of the missiles with the new warhead in different telemetry configurations. It was demonstrated that basic characteristics of the complex, missile and warhead met the imposed requirements.
In 2003 specialists of the Russian Federal Nuclear Center - Zababakhin All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Technical Physics (RFNC-VNIITF), Makeyev SRC, All-Russian Scientific Institute of Measuring Systems (NIIIIS), All-Russia Research Institute of Automatics (VNIIA), 12th Main Directorate of the MOD got the State Prize on science and technology for the developed warhead of increased effectiveness and safety.
